Next weekend sees what maybe our last Merched Chwarel walk!
Please do come and join us: we are heading to the ‘wild west’ of the quarried districts, Dyffryn Nantlle. Starting in Tal y Sarn, we’ll take in the village, quarries and quarry barracks, sharing stories (including the Butcher of Talysarn, and the Welsh Nightingale, with roots back into the stories of medieval female poets) along the way.
The walk on Sunday 13th October will start at 11am and finish around 3pm.
Here are some of the maps we made on our first walk, a year or so ago, on which we were joined by a paraqueet!
Marged and Lisa will share with us some of their insights from their dig in the barracks, with Gwynedd Archaeological trust too.
The walk is free, but booking essential: book here
Meanwhile, don’t forget our three current exhibitions at:
Amgueddfa Lechi Cymru Llanberis Slate Museum/Ysbyty Chwarel Hospital
Llechwedd Slate Caverns
Llyfrgell Blaenau Ffestiniog Library
All contain work that was in Storiel, in case you missed it, together with new works. And they all look so different in new locations! (for more details, opening times, location etc see our events page)
