Mapiau Mewnol - Llwybrau Tywyll

Chwarel Lucida drawings. 2019. Every day, from my bedroom window, I watch Chwarel Penrhyn. I see the yellow trucks in their endless rounds of up and down, the dust clouds that puff up on the horizon on sunny days, the red tourist truck of Zipworld. From this safe distance , it feels like insect life ; bees and ladybirds crawling around on the rock. I am separated further by my Camera Lucida, that translates the massive quarry landscape into a tiny delicate image floating in my sketchbook.

Stitching Samplers.

Flocked, handpainted wallpaper. Slate dust from Penrhyn Quarry, oak gall ink from Llanllechid and 19C woodblock.

Clearing my space, Dorothea Quarry.

Record of a walk through absent quarries, Bethesda 4th May, 2018
